Back at last! I hope you’ve missed us a little bit. It really took over three months before I got internet connection in my new home, can you believe it? Anyways, of course we probably missed a lot of netaudio gems in the meantime. I just made a quick tour through the last months releases, so don’t blame me please if I have overlooked something profound for this show. Also I now have an extra room for my desk, but it is a really small one and has still naked walls – that must be the reason why my moderations are sounding so sh*tty, like I’m sitting in a bathtub or what. I will try to make this better for the next month (yay! we’re going in monthly periods back again). So all in all: a quick and quirky recorded thingie here, but I hope you like it, because on the other side we have really great stuff, songs I’ve played for a wedding, wall-of-sounds (or: douching guitars) and especially the second half of the show goes directly through the ceiling in my opinion. Wo war sie zu finden? Zum Beispiel da, wo Folkeinflüsse mit unbekümmert exzentrischem Do-it-Yourself zusammenkommen. Auffällig oft bestehen diese Bands aus einer jungen Frau mit Laptop oder einem jungen Mann, der neben dreiundachtzig Instrumenten eben auch noch die Blockflöte spielt. Ebenfalls auffällig: die häufige Koexistenz des Glockenspiels. Läßt sich anhand der Chronologie der Musikersozialisation erklären: nach den Rasseln aus zerdepperten Glühbirnen in Pappmaché kommt der Eierschneider auf der Kabadose (plingpling), dann das Glockenspiel, dann die Blockflöte.

Die Sendung war übrigens super. Hart in der Recherche, hintenraus ein Kinderspiel. Klänge auch als Mixtape gut. Fällt euch noch ein Blockflötenlied ein?

Genug der Worte, wo bleibt die Musik? Okay. Die Chromatics verschenken auf ihrer MySpace-Seite nicht nur ihre Version von »I’m on fire«. Die Songs »Int the city«, »I want your love« und das »Dark Day«-Demo gibt’s gratis dazu. Es wird langsam Zeit, in die Langsamkeit der Chromatics einzutauchen, gerade in diesen Zeiten. Magische Musik. Wird die Energiekosten spürbar senken. (siehe auch Italians Do It Better)

Die Yeasayer (der Welt schlimmster Bandname. Ihr Erfolg könnte daran scheitern!) verschenken ihre beiden Songs »2080« und »Sunrises«. Zu haben auf ihrer Website. Die Yeasayer, das ist Brooklyn, wie man es in den vergangenen Jahren häufig zu hören bekommen hat. Aufwändige Arrangements mit kunstvollem Beigeschmack. Frisch wie das eigene Gartengemüse. Ihr aktuelles Album »All hour cymbals« sollte auf jeden Fall unter Beobachtung stehen. Und Phil Collins als Einfluss zu nennen muss man ihnen verzeihen. So lange im gleichen Atemzug Namen wie Prince und Leonard Cohen fallen, ist die Welt in Ordnung. (Vielleicht ist die Musik des ehemaligen Genesis-Drummers doch nicht so verkehrt wie ihr Ruf – man denke nur an »Against All Odds« von Postal Service.)

Ein weiteres MP3 stammt von Produzentenlegende und ~scape-Gründer Pole alias Stefan Betke. Seine Steingarten-Remixe wurden kürzlich veröffentlicht und der darauf enthaltene Achterbahn-Remix von Frivolous ist auf der Startseite des Labels zu finden. Dort wird man dann auch über ein Re-Release von Burnt Friedman & The Nu Dub Players fallen, aber das ist ein anderes Thema.

Ein Letztes habe ich noch, danach ist Schluss. Beiruts A Sunday Smile vom aktuellen Album »A Flying Club Cup«. Beeindruckender Zweitling, den Zach Condon da hingelegt hat. Über Einzelheiten wird noch zu reden sein, demnächst, wenn es hier am 15.12.2007 heißt: Jahresbilanz 2007.
