TOMS Marfa

The famous Prada Marfa sculpture in Texas has been hit by a vandal calling himself the TOMS Marfa. The interventionists spraypainted it blue, and covered the sculpture with TOMS stickers along with a manifesto explaining the reasons for the attack.

La voiture de police poulailler

French artist Benedetto Bufalino has humorously transformed a 1970’s police car into a chicken coop. »La voiture de police poulailler« is an old vehicle whose interior has been gutted. Unfortunately, not organic. Organic eggs must come from chickens that live in cage-free environments. Don’t miss his whole battle of ideas.

Public Art Horsens

Once again, Brad Downey transformed »un-used« public space in a sliding and swinging playground for urban explorers. Horsens, an old, Danish city of about 55.000 inhabitants, is once a year the center of a unique festival focused on urban art. A selected group of contemporary artists took over the port and city center with public art works. See more at Fecal Face.

r1

Johannesburg based artist r1 reduces his work to the most simple material transforming them and placing them back where they came from, to become a part of the city’s journey. His »short-time-based installations« likely cause confusion among viewers. »Like the street, the work finds its meaning once an interaction with the passer-by takes place«, he says on his homepage.

CityLeaks 2013

The CityLeaks Urban Art Festival 2013 has just started. From 2nd to 22nd September 2013 national and international artists will design public spaces and facades and turn the city of Cologne into a large stage for contemporary urban art. Apart from artistic interventions the festival offers many opportunities for participation. A wide communications programme for visitors and a multifaceted supporting programme is also offered. Among them several cologne galleries, off loctions and theatres crucially contribute to CityLeak 2013 with their most diverse programme and help to establish the festival’s intention. You will find more informations from the link above.

Suburban

»Suburban« is a photography, film and installation project created by New York based artist Ian Strange. His work is a radical transformation of a familiar suburban world of detached houses with gardens. In addition, his video shows a massive explosion in slow motion to create a moving statement around Western ideas of home.
