Satellites – Wasteland directed by M-I-E. »Kicking hard on the heels of Satellites:01, released as album of the week at Rough Trade last Summer, here is the next installment of the extraordinary journey of Johnny Vic – the Englishman living in Copenhagen who writes, plays and produces as Satellites.«
Orchard Beach is a public beach in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. The beach is part of Pelham Bay Park and is situated on the western end of Long Island Sound. Built in the 1930s by urban planner Robert Moses, the beach carries the stigma as being one of the worst in New York and is commonly known as Horseshit Beach or Chocha Beach. Although New York’s Bronx is considered one of the most diverse communities in America out of which many subcultures originated, such as Hip Hop and Salsa, it’s still viewed as a no man’s land by many of the city’s inhabitants. Perhaps it is a matter of simple geography that many refuse to venture to the northernmost of the city’s five boroughs or, quite possibly, it may be the Borough’s malevolent reputation lingering from its tumultuous past. Brooklyn-based artist Wayne Lawrence began shooting portraits of Orchard Beach’s summertime regulars in 2005 shortly after moving to New York, realizing that the stigma attached to this oasis was largely unjustified. »I felt compelled to engage with this community of working class families and colorful characters«, he said. The photographs in »Orchard Beach – The Bronx Riviera« celebrate the pride and dignity of the beach’s visitors, working-class people.

Seit heute ist also das von Zeitungsverleger:innen durchgedrückte LSR in Kraft, bzw. ab heute kann es durchgesetzt werden. Ehrlich gesagt habe ich kaum Lust, die Entstehung & Konsequenzen nochmal herzuleiten, deshalb verweise ich hierauf:FAQ zum Leistungsschutzrecht.
Gestern hat auch Felix von wirres bereits eine sehr Zusammenfassung zum Start des Schwachsinns gegeben. Es zeigt sich nämlich jetzt, dass die meisten Zeitungen – Überraschung! – doch nicht aus den Google News wollen, obwohl Google weiterhin nichts dafür bezahlt. Damit droht also z.B., dass das LSR tatsächlich eine Art „Lex Google“ wird, für das es ja schon bezeichnet wurde, jetzt aber halt zu deren Nutzen, denn es richtet sich faktisch dann eben doch gegen andere Aggregatoren usw.
Wir von der Machtdose haben jetzt jedenfalls (soweit bekannt) auch aus vergangenen Artikeln Links und Zitate von Publikationen genommen, die sich nicht explizit gegen das gewerbliche Nutzen der Leistungsschutzrechte ausgesprochen haben – einfach auch, weil die Rechtslage uns weiterhin zu unklar scheint, auch wenn verschiedentlich festgehalten wurde, das Blogs, schon gar nicht unkommerzielle wie unseres, davon unbelastet seien, sondern auch, weil wir hier niemanden mit Links und Hinweisen unterstützen wollen, der dann später dafür evtl. doch an einen mit Geldforderungen herantritt – und weil wir das Ding für grundsätzlich falsch halten.
Für die Zukunft heißt das, dass wir dabei möglichst auf solcherart Verweise und Erwähnungen verzichten werden. Ist aus meiner Sicht auch nicht so tragisch für uns. (Des Weiteren haben wir mal das D64-Plugin eingebaut, dass bei (übersehenen oder vielleicht auch mal dann doch verwendeten) Links zu solchen LSR-positiven Seiten, eine entsprechende Hinweisseite zwischenschaltet). Für Zeitungen mag das Ausbleiben solcher Promotion von hieraus nun ebenfalls vernachlässigbar sein, wir hoffen aber das die deutschsprachige „Blogosphäre“ (whoever that is) in größerer Zahl sich ähnlich verhält, dann dürfte es schon einen spürbaren Effekt zeigen.
