Banksy is for ages now constantly working on the highest level of civil disobedience. This stencil showing a group of pigeons holding anti-immigration banners towards an exotic-looking bird was quickly removed by the District Council of Clacton-on-Sea, England, which said someone had complained it was racist. Usually nothing to worry about, better removed than being stolen by art collectors.
»Everyday Rebellion« is a documentary about the power of the peaceful protests and the new forms of civil disobedience in a time of global upheavel. The film by Arman and Arash T. Riahi is currently in production and is expected to be shown at the end of 2013 by ARTE. The accompanying webseries »Creative Resistance« by ARTE Creative presents weekly methods of peaceful protest that are presented by icons of the movements, activists, artists but also by creative users. This week it is about the world-famous detractors of globalization named Yes Men from the United States: Fight like the Yes Men and avoid going to jail!
