228.768 Unterstützer und 88 Tage Restlaufzeit: Die Online-Petition gegen die Tarifreform 2013 der GEMA ist beispiellos in der noch jungen Geschichte der Online-Petitionen. Das bringt die GEMA in Bedrängnis, zumal die Debatte über ihr umstrittenes Abrechnungssystem gerade erst Fahrt aufgenommen hat. Zwar sind große Meinungsbildner wie das Heute Journal mit dem komplexen Gebilde bislang noch überfordert (wer ist das nicht?) und äußern Zweifel am Protest, jenseits der TV-Anstalten gibt es allerdings einige lesenswerte Artikel, die das trockene Thema rund um Tarife und Lizenzen in Ansätzen fassbar macht, allen voran der Beitrag »Mein Senf zum GEMA-Senf« von Browserboy. Guido Möbius, selbst Musiker, Musikverleger und PR-Agent für Plattenfirmen und Festivals, kritisiert die Verteilungspraxis in der Frankfurter Rundschau vom 25.06.2012: »Gema, der Club der oberen 3400«. Die Problematik schwingt auch hier mit: »Vereinfacht ja, verbessert nein: Neue GEMA Tarife mit altem Systemfehler und einer bösen Ohrfeige für Techno«. Dass man den Reformkurs kritisieren kann, nicht aber ändern wird, schreibt die F.A.Z. in ihrer Ausgabe vom 04.07.2012: »Für uns steht der neue Grundtarif nicht zur Diskussion.« erklärte dort Gema-Sprecherin Schilcher unlängst mit verschlossenen Ohren, womit wir wieder bei den Ohrfeigen wären. Und überhaupt: Die Debatten über Gebührenerhebungs- und Verteilungspraktiken, Urheberrecht, Massendigitalisierung und Filesharing treten gerade extrem auf der Stelle. Hilfe, wir sind im Reformstau!

The legendary LEGO pine trees and flowers are currently part of an exhibition in the Australian outback. However, life-sized in a unique reserve called »Living Desert« in Broken Hill. The reason is that LEGO is celebrating 50 years in Australia. The impressive installation will now remain in Broken Hill’s red dust plains and blue skies of far-western NSW until July 12. A sculpture that gets my special attention on these warm days is a giant melting ice cream van, entitled »Hot With The Chance of Late Storm« created by The Glue Society. Exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, Sydney 2006.

Markus Linnenbrink was commissioned to paint the visitors tunnel at the new JVA (prison) in Düsseldorf, Germany. »Visitor access (for family, lawyers, police…) has to be under ground by law in newly constructed prisons in Germany. This tunnel covers the 40 m (about 132 feet) between the security check in the front building and the visitors area in one of the inner prison buildings«, it says on the website.
