Media Artist Franz Reimer got the idea for his performance clip Justice Has Been Done from White House photographer Pete Souza’s now iconic press photo so-called »Situation Room«, which was taken at 4:06 pm on May 1, 2011. It captures President Obama and his national security team as they watched the killing of Osama bin Laden live on a screen. Reimer’s reenactment of this unprecedented media event was worked out step by step.
Planting a seven meter high plane tree on the roof of a twelve-storey residential high-rise in Gießen, Germany. The projects‘ title Treehouse represents this romantic idea of living in unison with nature. Treehouse here stands for a retreat from »down earth«.

Famous Danish-Icelandic artist Ólafur Elíasson is well known for his sculptures and large-scale installation art employing elemental materials such as light and water. In 2013 he placed several massive pieces of ice that broke off from Iceland’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull, in a room that was cooled down below 0°. The oldest ice in the glacier is estimated to have originated some 800 years ago. »Your Waste of Time« took place as part of EXPO 1: New York in New York City (he first exhibited ice in 2006 in Berlin).

Reality is a just a concept. Berlin-based artist Alicja Kwade transforms and duplicates unnoticed everyday objects like a hand pallet truck into the language of illusion, an imaginary, parallel dimension. With »Apparatus«, American artist Roxy Paine introduces a new chapter in his work, a series of large scale dioramas. Inspired by spaces and environments designed to be activated via human interaction, a fast-food restaurant and a control room, the dioramas present spaces and objects which are hand carved from birch and maple wood and formed from steel, encased and frozen in time, void of human presence, making their inherent function obsolete. Apparatus was Paine’s first solo exhibition in Chicago at Kavi Gupta Gallery.

French artist Benedetto Bufalino has humorously transformed a 1970’s police car into a chicken coop. »La voiture de police poulailler« is an old vehicle whose interior has been gutted. Unfortunately, not organic. Organic eggs must come from chickens that live in cage-free environments. Don’t miss his whole battle of ideas.
