King Khan & his Shrines live im Nachtleben

Ihr werdet doch wohl hoffentlich alle mitbekommen haben, dass King Khan und seine Shrines eine dicke Tour angeleiert haben? Heute gastiert der Maharaja of Soul im Nachtleben in Frankfurt – »King Khan is only 25 years old and describes himself as the Mohamed Ali of Rhythm’n’Blues. Born in Montreal, Canada, he grew up in North America to the sounds of S c r e a m i n ‚ Jay Hawkins, Bo Diddley, Salomon Burke, James Brown and Curtis Mayfield. After touring the US and Canada extensively with various projects, he gets recognition with the Spaceshits (produced by Andy G of the Devil Dogs and Candy Del Mar of The Cramps) before vanishing into air…

Year 2000. King Khan is back in the streets of Kassel, Germany. After many crucial encounters — notably with Rhan „Mister Mystery“ Streeter (original percussionist for Curtis Mayfield, Ike & Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and other soul legends) — he forms his own Soul big band, The Shrines (made up of 10 musicians) in the true tradition of Stax and Motown, adding his own jungle beat (voodoo style) to it. You got it, Screamin‘ Jay Hawkins‘ personality has left its mark on Mister King Khan a.k.a „The Maharadja of Soul“. His music is often described as a perfect blend of Soul, R&B, Psychedelic Beat and Rock’n’Roll. A true tornado on stage.«
