Brats, Lamento & Wijd

May be related, but not not necessarily associated. Three great animated clips compiled by Spex.

1. Liars – »Brats« directed by ian cheng. Check out this video of a CGI-rendered nightmare. Bugs Bunny wakes up as the horror of a reposing mummy or something like that.

2. John Talabot – »Lamento« directed by Joshua Catalano. Paris-based motion designer Joshua Catalano takes us on a wild trip into the unknown in his 3D animation titled »Lamento«.

3. Massacooramaan – »Wijd« directed by Kingdom & Subtrança. Portland-based DJ and producer Dave Quam aka Massacooramaan recently dropped his debut EP »Dead Long Time« and has now unveiled some trippy visuals for »Wijd«, a psychedelic kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and floating swords that drift their way through a rainstorm.

Room Portraits

Room Portraits from an extraordinary perspective by photographer Menno Aden. For his series, Aden mounted a camera on the ceiling of different rooms and took top down pictures that put everything in perspective. The impression of surveillance is beautiful played out by the artist to hint at society’s voyeuristic urge. Get a bird’s eye view for a moment!

Timeless Islands

The work of Paris based photographer Thomas Jorion is just fantastic! Under the title »Timeless Islands« Jorion has made a series of photos that poetically describe the transient of the world as we have built. Love, love, love it!

Die Entwicklung neuer Stadtquartiere im Herzen der City

In Denver, Colorado, a law has been passed making it illegal to camp on city streets. Meanwhile in Frankfurt, Germany, Councillor Frank has called for a deadline by the end of the month: when time runs out, police will remove the Occupy Frankfurt camp immediately. An important era will probably end there. In recent months tented camps around the world have become a synonym to nomadic resistance and collapsible architecture in the context of protests and demonstrations. Especially in Germany’s financial capital is a striking contrast between the imposing but lifeless skyscrapers and the movement’s improvised camps and architectures. These new urban districts were captured by german photography studio Frank Bayh & Steff Rosenberger-Ochs in a series entitled »Die Entwicklung neuer Stadtquartiere im Herzen der City«. The pictures here where made at the tent camp of anti-Stuttgart 21 campaigners in Stuttgart’s Schlossgarten park and the backgrounds were replaced with various types of surfaces.
