The Dive

What looks like a huge art installation, is in fact part of an unprecedented environmental disaster: »14th of October, 2010 at 12.25pm in Ajka, Veszprém county, Hungary: around a million cubic metres of toxic waste were released after the burst of the retaining wall in one of the reservoirs used for the accumulation of MAL aluminium company rubbish. The spilling reached two meters high and started a destructive race trying to release its energy, flooding Devecser and Kolontár villages. Ten human casualties were counted and the material damages were imposible to measure, including the destruction or irreparable deterioration of a big ammount of houses, the dissapearing of infrastructures and the poisoning of dozens of fields. The accident was fastly considered the biggest catastrophe of hungarian history. This photos have been taken six months after the accident when the silence takes the place of the headlines and just The Line is left.« Photography series by Palindromo Meszaros.

Willow – Sweater

Willow – »Sweater« directed by Filip Sterckx. The kings of over-staged music videos a.k.a. OK GO could get into serious difficulties. Guys, the competition never sleeps, certainly not in the highly complex cultural industry. I think »Sweater« is probably the coolest music video these days. Three beamers projecting on a floor and two walls: 3D mapping at its best!

Goldfish Club

There is nothing unusual in finding large aquariums in bars, hotels or restaurants. To find one in a telephone box, however, is much more surprising. Kingyobu a.k.a. the Goldfish Club have been making an aquarium out of a public telephone and placed hundreds of goldfish inside.

Comfort

Incredible »Comfort« series by the Switzerland based multi-disciplinary studio L/B Lang Baumann. The two artists experiment with inflatable architectural interventions. This consecutively numbered work features large scale tubes that are placed in windows and other objects like the broken, aged and well-weathered cars of a junkyard.

Credits

Kind of sustainability report: What happens to our garbage after it is picked up? In fact french artist The Wa has an answer. After six weeks collecting, he created a fantastic installation made of waste produced during the Dockville Festival in Hamburg. No idea about the tertiary exploitation.

Until The Quiet Comes

Flying Lotus – »Until The Quiet Comes« directed by Kahlil Joseph. Steven Ellison, known as Flying Lotus, is back with a new album called »Until the Quiet Comes« which is available in autumn on Warp Records. As always there is a wonderful video, this time made by director Khalil Joseph and of course, as a Flylo fan, I am suprised to hear this song, as you may be – his sound has become a lot more sense.
