Podcast July 2011

For the cover I used a photo by Daniel Kulinski [CC BY-NC-SA]

A relatively homogenous episode. It starts with a near-Beatles song, comes then in a general relaxed mood, garnished here and there with atmospheric field recordings embedded in the background and some touches of ethno music (asian chants & harmonies). At the end the tempo is more up without getting too crazy.

Bon Iver

Karg und winterlich wie eh und je. Dass er uns dieses Album im Hochsommmer aufnötigt, ist so gegen den Strich wie die Musik selbst. Groß!

Schlachtformationen

Absolutely fantastic! Andreas Ullrich reconstructed battle formations on a supermarket parking lot in East Germany with umpteen trolleys, a region, where the chain stores spread massively in the last two decades.

Modern Art

it took me only 10 seconds to understand the powerful acceleration of this song. So it is an honor to select Black Lips‘ »Modern Art« as single of the month. The video was directed by occult expert Brian Butler. Enjoy!
